England and canada to play for finals

England and Canada face off again as the Red Roses prepare to host their rivals in a repeat of the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup final during the upcoming WXV Global Series in September. The fixture drew major attention after England’s dominant 33 13 victory at Twickenham last year.

The September schedule features England against three top-tier opponents at different venues. Fans will see high-level international rugby throughout the month. John Mitchell’s side opens their campaign against Australia at CorpAcq Stadium on 12 September.

The eagerly awaited clash with Canada follows at Sandy Park in Exeter on 19 September. The series concludes with a major match against New Zealand at Twickenham on 26 September.

Key Fixtures Set for September

Players have expressed excitement about the upcoming matches, especially the rematch with Canada. England forward Maddie Feaunati called the fixture a chance to compete with one of the strongest teams in the game. She highlighted the intensity expected on the pitch.

Meanwhile, Captain Megan Jones emphasized the significance of facing New Zealand. She noted the long-standing rivalry and the high quality such games deliver. Amy Cokayne welcomed playing in the north west against Australia. She described it as a positive step for expanding women’s rugby across different regions.

The WXV Global Series replaces the previous WXV competition. It brings together the top 12 teams in the world in a structured format outside World Cup years. Alongside England, teams such as Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Italy, Japan, South Africa, and the United States have qualified. This setup ensures competitive matches throughout the series.

Under the new format, teams will play between nine and 16 Test matches during the cycle. Up to six fixtures are scheduled in the September and October window. The series aims to provide consistent high-level competition and strengthen the international women’s rugby calendar.

For England, the series offers preparation and an opportunity to reinforce their status after the World Cup success. The England-Canada match will test their consistency against a familiar opponent eager to respond after the previous defeat.

Before the September fixtures, England returns to action in April. They will defend their Women’s Six Nations title at home against Ireland. This match marks their first outing since lifting the World Cup trophy and sets the tone for the months ahead.

With strong opposition and renewed rivalries, England’s upcoming schedule promises an exciting period for players and supporters alike. Fans can expect intense matches, strategic play, and a chance to witness the growth of women’s rugby firsthand. The September series highlights the strength and depth of the sport while keeping attention focused on key international matchups.
