Kanye West Postpones Marseille Show After UK entry ban

US rapper Kanye West has postponed his gig in Marseille. He announced that the show will no longer be held until further notice. His European tour now faces fresh restrictions after a UK entry ban disrupted earlier arrangements. The decision follows rising controversy around his performances and public appearances.
First, the cancellation of West’s planned appearance at London’s Wireless Festival triggered wider problems for his European tour. Organizers scrapped the event after the UK government denied him entry.
Officials cited concerns about public interest and suitability. As a result, the decision quickly affected other scheduled shows, including the Marseille performance.
In addition, French authorities have shown clear opposition to the concert. Reports indicate that Interior Minister Laurent Nunez explored legal options to stop the Marseille show. Officials raised concerns about hosting the rapper. Therefore, this uncertainty pushed West to step back from the event.

Meanwhile, West addressed the situation directly. In a statement shared on X, he said he chose to postpone the France gig himself. He explained that he did not want fans caught in the ongoing situation affecting his tour.
“I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends,” he wrote. “I take full responsibility for what’s mine but I don’t want to put my fans in the middle of it.”
Furthermore, West thanked his supporters for their patience. He added that he hopes to return to the stage when conditions improve.
Earlier, the artist prepared for a wider European tour. The schedule included stops in the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey. He also listed a performance in India later in the year. However, the setbacks in France and the UK have raised doubts. Several dates remain listed, but their status is now unclear.
Over the years, West, 48, has worked to rebuild his mainstream career. He faced strong backlash after making offensive statements. These included antisemitic and racist remarks. In response, he issued public apologies. In a 2025 publication, he said he had reflected on his actions and mental health challenges.
Even so, his public image continues to face criticism. He has drawn attention for several controversial actions. For example, he made remarks praising Adolf Hitler. He also released a song titled “Heil Hitler,” which sparked widespread backlash.
At the same time, West faces legal issues in the United States. A lawsuit accuses him of assaulting a man at a Los Angeles hotel. The claimant says West attacked him without warning. However, West has argued that a misunderstanding involving his wife led to the incident.
